We all love to travel—it’s our way of breaking free from the monotony of everyday life. Some of us enjoy hopping on flights, while others swear by road trips. The choice usually depends on the number of days we have, the distance to the destination, budget, and sometimes, just our mood.
But every now and then, all we really want is a short 3–4 days break—a place that’s 5–6 hours away, close to nature, peaceful, and still offers good views, good food, and good vibes.
If that sounds like your kind of escape, Bhimtal in Uttarakhand fits the bill perfectly.
Why Bhimtal?
Located in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, Bhimtal is a small, serene lake town close to the popular hill station of Nainital—but without the crowds and chaos. If you prefer calm mornings, scenic lake views, and slow travel, Bhimtal is a far better choice.
(Why Bhimtal is a better option than Nainital is something I’ve already covered in a previous blog.)
This blog focuses on planning a complete Delhi–NCR to Bhimtal itinerary for a relaxed long weekend.
Distance: Approx. 300 km
Travel Time: 6–7 hours (with 1–2 short breaks)
Delhi → Ghaziabad → Hapur → Moradabad → Rampur → Rudrapur → Haldwani → Bhimtal
NH-24 connects Delhi to Bhimtal and is a smooth, well-maintained highway for most of the journey. There are plenty of food stops along the way—Satkar Restaurant near Rudrapur is one of my personal favourites.
💡 Tip: If you start around 6:00 AM from Delhi, you can comfortably reach Bhimtal by 1:00 PM.

A Gentle Reminder About Travel
This itinerary is only a suggestion. You can always tweak it based on your interests and time in hand. Sometimes, the best part of a hill getaway is simply sitting by the lake, talking, reading, or enjoying silence with friends and family—rather than rushing from one sightseeing spot to another.
Bhimtal offers a wide range of hotels, homestays, and Airbnbs. If you’re looking for a peaceful, scenic stay, one of the best options is:
Stunning lake and mountain views from every room
3 modern, comfortable AC rooms, each with:
Private balcony, Attached bathroom
Fully equipped kitchen with full-time in-house cook
Lake-view garden for evening bonfires
On-site gated parking for vehicle safety
Warm, homely hospitality in a calm setting
It’s an ideal choice for families, couples, and small groups looking to truly relax. Know more about Shanti Kunjj Here.
A weekend trip from Delhi to Bhimtal is not just about sightseeing—it’s about slowing down, reconnecting with nature, and enjoying quality time. Whether it’s a short 2-day escape or a longer 3–4 days break, Bhimtal leaves you refreshed every single time.
Wishing you a wonderful trip and many peaceful moments by the lake.
See you soon in another blog.
