Naukuchiatal or "lake of nine corners" is a small hill station, near Nainital Town in Nainital district of Kumaon, Uttarakhand, India. The lake is 175 feet deep and is situated at 1,220 metres (4,000 ft) above sea level. It is covered in trees and shrubs. The lake is situated 4 km from Bhimtal, and 26 km from Nainital.

The Butterfly Research Centre is located on a hillock near the Bhimtal Lake and houses the fourth largest butterfly and moth reference collection in India. Of the approximately 1300 species of butterflies to be found in India, Bhimtal alone has around 240 species. 

Kasar Devi is a village near Almora, Uttarakhand. It is known for the Kasar Devi temple, a Devi temple, dedicated to Kasar Devi, after whom the place is also named. The temple structure dates to the 2nd century CE. Swami Vivekananda visited Kasar Devi in 1890.Kasar Devi Temple in Uttarakhand is one of the only three places on this planet under the impact of highly charged geomagnetic fields that come within the Van Allen Belts discovered by NASA.
